How to Save DraftSight Profile XML Settings file

Problem

This article shows how to save DraftSight settings to an XML file to load on another system or create a backup for reinstalling DraftSight.

Solution

  1. Within DraftSight, select the DS icon in the far upper left corner to show the File menu, choose Options, or type “options” into the command line

  2. Select the active Profile with a left-click

  3. Use “Export” to save the profile to an external file.
  4. Use "Import" to load the saved XML file to import the Profile
  5. Use "Activate" with the profile selected to make it the active profile

    Backup works perfectly but moving longpath files is a headache. I did this a few year back and found many issues but then I used LPT, and it helped. Of course, it has some problems but it is helpful.
