Although SOLIDWORKS Connected is licensed through the 3DExperience platform, you can work offline. This can be helpful if you decide to work off-site, are experiencing internet problems, or prefer to work locally.
Please note that virtual and parallel machines do not support offline mode for SOLIDWORKS Connected.
If you store content on the 3DExperience platform, you will be unable to save to the cloud while working offline. In this case, you can save your work locally and then add the new or updated content to the platform once you are back online.
You can only go offline for up to 30 consecutive days. Once 30 days have been reached, SOLIDWORKS will reconnect automatically.
To work offline, please follow the instructions below.
- Open SOLIDWORKS and make sure all files have been closed.
-
Locate the profile icon on the top-right of your screen and select it.
- Click "Work Offline".
-
A dialog box will appear informing you of possible limitations when working offline. Set the number of days you would prefer to work offline, and select "Ok" to continue.
-
You may get a "3DExperience native apps detected" message. If so, please select the correct option for your needs.
-
Once you have finished this process, you should see an "Offline" icon on the top right of your screen.
To return to online mode, you can select the "Work Offline" icon and select "Yes" in the following prompt.
Once you have connected back to the 3DExperience Platform, you will need to save any offline changes. To do so, open each new or modified file and select "File > Save to 3DExperience". Make sure to check the status column to confirm everything has been successfully saved to the 3DExperience Platform.
Unplanned Offline Mode
In the event of an outage or a problem with your network, you may have access to work offline before starting SOLIDWORKS. This only applies if your application has successfully connected to the 3DExperience Platform in the last 30 days.
When this occurs, the following message will appear.
While in this mode, you will be unable to connect to the 3DExperience Platform. However, you will be able to save and work on documents locally.
Unplanned Offline Mode is unavailable if one of the following is true:
- A license error has occurred, or the platform administrator has removed the corresponding role that provides access to SOLIDWORKS.
- SOLIDWORKS Connected is installed on a virtual machine.
- If the app loses connection mid-session. In these cases, you can launch the application again to receive this message.
- You have R2025x FD02 or above installed.
Once a connection has successfully been established to the 3DExperience Platform again, the following message will notify you.
