When renewing 3DEXPERIENCE licenses, the new licenses may differ slightly from previous ones. This can happen with the startup program, as many additional tools are included the first year that they may not renew the second year, as well as with different packages of SOLIDWORKS.
When the renewal happens, users may be left with roles assigned that no longer have licenses available. This can cause a variety of errors in 3DEXPERIENCE, particularly when trying to use SOLIDWORKS or other platform apps. Even if the expired role is unrelated to a specific app, errors may still occur.
Solution
To avoid these errors, expired roles should be removed from users. This can be done using the following steps:
- Under the Platform Management dashboard, go to the Members tab, then click Configure Members Options in the Members Control Center.
- Ensure that under Licenses Expiration, you set the Automatically ungrant expired roles from members or groups to active (Blue).
Enabling that option should remove all expired roles and will remove roles when they expire in the future.. If errors continue to occur, further steps can be taken to manually remove roles:
- Select the Invite & Grant Roles tab in the Members Control Center.
- Click on the "i" icon next to the user profile.
- Review and remove any expired roles that are still assigned, or any roles indicating that they are assigned with no license available.
