Problem
When using the 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX) platform, the website may need to use local network access to connect to an app or service on the local machine. The 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher depends on this connection to open desktop applications from the 3DX platform. If the connection is blocked or not granted, the launcher fails, often resulting in an infinite loop of “Download 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher” prompts that cannot be bypassed when attempting to install, update, or open 3DX apps.
Solution 1: Accept Prompt for Local Network Access
When accessing the 3DX platform initially or attempting to install, update, or launch an app, there may be a prompt to allow local network access. Select Allow for that prompt to enable local network access.
Solution 2: Manually Enable Local Network Access
If there is no visible prompt to allow Local Network Access for 3DX, it may need to be manually enabled. The steps in this section show how to enable that in Google Chrome - note that the steps may vary slightly in other browsers.
- Go to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform in your browser.
-
Click the View site information button in the address bar.
-
Click the Site settings button in the drop-down menu.
-
Scroll down to find the Local network option and set it to Allow.
