How to Deploy CATIA Drafting Standards for All Users in a Given 3DX Collaborative Space

When working on projects within 3DS CATIA that require the use of specific drafting standards, it can be a tedious process to set up over and over again. 

In this guide, we'll go over the process to deploy custom CATIA Drafting Standards for all users in a 3D Experience Collaborative Space.

Accessing the Data Setup App

  1. To begin, Launch the 3DX Platform Window
  2. Select the Responsibility dropdown menu in the top right corner of the window > Choose the Collaborative Space where you would like to add the custom standardconfirm-collaborative-space.png
  3. A Credentials window will appear. In the Responsibility dropdown, set it to Owner. This will allow us access to the Data Setup App in the next step. Confirm the Collaborative Space by selecting OK

  4. Select the Compass and navigate to the Mechanical & Shape Engineer Role > Select the

Setting Up the Resource Table

  1. Once the application opens, in the Resource Tables tab, navigate to Standard Resources
  2. Right-click on Standard Resources > select to Create a new Resource Table

  3. A Resource Set window will appear. Create a Title and select OK. This will set the title for the created Resource Table

  4. Once done, the new Resource Table is generated, which you will now use to set the XML Standards Document(s) that are to be referenced
     

Importing the Drafting Standard

  1. The window for the created Resource Table will open. Look at the Drawing and 3D Annotations item under Logical Name
  2. Double-click the cell under the Resource column

  3. A grey dialog box appears, asking to Search an object or Import a file. Select to Import a file

  4. Navigate to the Standards file (XML file) > Open
    For this example, we use the HRSTempStd.xml

  5. Once selected, click OK to accept changes

  6. The grey dialog box at the top of the screen will have a Green Check Mark. Click on it to confirm.

    (Optional): To add multiple Standards, Right-click on the Drawing and 3D Annotations item and select Add a new resource sub item

    This will create a new row to allow for additional Standards.
    Note that the process will need to be done one file at a time if you are going to add multiple standards

  7. Once done, select OK to accept changes

Linking the Standard to the Collaborative Space

  1. With the newly created Resource Table, drag and drop it into the Collaborative Space. This links the standard to the particular Collaborative Space

    NOTE: All given standards are in one resource table. That one resource table is linked to the particular collaborative space.
  2. Right-click on the Resource Table again and select "Deploy the server Business Rules"

  3. Select the Share icon at the top > Select to Save

    A revision should appear under the Version column.

  4. Verify this is correct by creating a new Drawing > Page Layout. The Standard dropdown should now have your set standards.
