Problem

When working on projects within 3DEXPERIENCE CATIA that require the use of specific drafting standards, it can be a tedious process to set up over and over again. In this guide, we will go over the process to deploy custom CATIA Drafting Standards for all users in a 3DEXPERIENCE Collaborative Space.

Solution

1. To begin, launch the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform

2. Select the Responsibility dropdown menu in the top right corner of the window and choose the Collaborative Space where to add the custom standard

   

3. A Credentials window will appear. In the Responsibility dropdown, set it to Owner. This will allow us access to the Data Setup App in the next step. Confirm the Collaborative Space by selecting OK 

   

4. Select the Compass, navigate to the Mechanical & Shape Engineer Role, and select the 
   Data Setup App

   

5. Once the application opens, in the Resource Tables tab, navigate to Standard Resources

6. Right-click on Standard Resources and select "Create a new Resource Table"

   

7. A Resource Set window will appear. In this window, create a Title and select "OK". This will set the title for the created Resource Table

   

8. Once done, the new Resource Table is generated, which we will now use to set the XML Standards Document(s) that are to be referenced
9. In the window for the created Resource Table, look at the "Drawing and 3D Annotations" item under the Logical Name column

10. Double-click the cell under the Resource column

    

11. In the grey dialog box that appears, select "Import a file"

    

12. Navigate to the Standards file (XML file) and select Open. For this example, we use the HRSTempStd.xml.

    

13. Once selected, click "OK" to accept changes 

    

14. In the grey dialog box at the top of the screen, click the Green Checkmark

    

15. Optional: To add multiple Standards, Right-click on the Drawing and 3D Annotations item and select "Add a new resource sub item"
    
16. This will create a new row to allow for additional Standards. Note: The process will need to be done one file at a time for adding multiple standards

17. Once done, select "OK" to accept changes

    

18. With the newly created Resource Table, drag and drop it into the Collaborative Space. This links the standard to the particular Collaborative Space

    

    NOTE: All given standards are in one resource table. That one resource table is linked to the particular collaborative space.

19. Right-click on the Resource Table again and select "Deploy the server Business Rules"

    

20. Select the Share icon at the top and select "Save". A revision should appear under the Version column.

    

    

21. Verify this is correct by creating a new Page Layout from Drawing > Page Layout. The Standard dropdown should now have the new standards
