How to Fix "No compatible SOLIDWORKS version found" Error When Launching The 3DEXPERIENCE Add-in

Problem

This article discusses how to troubleshoot and resolve the "No compatible SOLIDWORKS version found" error message when attempting to open SOLIDWORKS from the 3DEXPERIENCE Compass menu by selecting Design with SOLIDWORKS

No Compatible SOLIDWORKS Version Found

The error message is often caused by one of the following:

  • Trying to launch Design with SOLIDWORKS and not having any compatible version of SOLIDWORKS installed. This includes the latest release of the major version and two prior major versions.
  • Incompatible hotfixes or updates for SOLIDWORKS are installed.

This error means that the system cannot detect a SOLIDWORKS installation on the computer.

Solution

Installing SOLIDWORKS Desktop should resolve this issue. If SOLIDWORKS is already installed, a repair or reinstallation may be required. Every computer is unique, so unfortunately there isn't a single solution to this problem. Some computers require more cleaning or maintenance than others.

  1. Install SOLIDWORKS if it is not installed already. The installed version must be the one of the three most recently released major versions (E.g. If SOLIDWORKS 2024 is the most recent version, you'll need either SOLIDWORKS 2024, 2023 or 2022 installed.)
  2. If a compatible version of SOLIDWORKS is already installed, perform a SOLIDWORKS Repair
  3. After installing a compatible version or running a repair, try opening the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform in a new browser window and try to open SOLIDWORKS via the Compass menu
  4. If the "No Compatible SOLIDWORKS version found" error persists after installing or repairing SOLIDWORKS, uninstall SOLIDWORKS and then reinstall it
