GDTAnalysis Installation and Registration Error

GDTanalysis.net.dll Installation and registration Error

DATE:

March 2014

SUBJECT:

Upgrade Installation of SolidWorks Failure

ABSTRACT:

How to manually unregister .NET DLLs to fix a failed SolidWorks installation.

During the installation of SolidWorks 2014 many DLL files are registered with Windows and Microsoft .NET assemblies. It has been reported that this has caused fatal errors in several instances with the error message:

'SWRegistration Failed to register .Net DLL's'; gdtanalysis.net.dll cannot be registered

To address this error message it is necessary to manually unregister this DLL with .NET codebase. To accomplish this you need a copy of this problematic DLL – see attached. After downloading this attached DLL launch a windows command line as the administrator - Click Start then type 'CMD', right-click the 'Command Prompt' program and select 'Run as Administrator'. Type in this command:

C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\regasm.exe /unregister [pathtodownload]gdtanalysis.net.dll

This will unregister this DLL with the .NET assembly and clear out any problematic previous registrations. In several cases this error appears to be due to a failed previous SolidWorks uninstall/upgrade. In some cases multiple .NET DLL files have needed to be manually unregistered from the .NET assembly including:

swBackOfficeCoreNet.dll

SldForum.dll
