SolidWorks 2026 White Background Missing

Problem

Starting in SolidWorks 2026, the old default White Background Scene "00 3 Point Faded" was removed from the default background scene list, so it is not available to apply as a scene background.

Three Pointed Faded White Background

Solution

We can bring that scene background back by copying the scene file from a previous version of SolidWorks with the following steps:

  1. Download the zipped folder linked below called "00 3 point faded" then right-click it and extract it
  2. Copy the "00 3 point faded.p2s" file and paste the copy into one of the default scene folders located in: C:\Program Files\SOLIDWORKS Corp\SOLIDWORKS\data\graphics\Scenes
    Copy file into Scene folder
  3. Open SolidWorks, then start a Part or Assembly file
  4. Click Apply scene (Heads-up View toolbar) and click Manage Favorites
    Manage Scene Favorites.png
  5. Check the box for "00 3 Point Faded" and hit "OK"
Check the box for Three Point Faded
  6. Click the Apply scene dropdown (Heads-up View toolbar) to apply the scene
    Apply Scene

Now the Three Point Faded white background is applied. If we want this scene saved to the template, use File>Save As to save over the Part Template (.prtdot) or Assembly Template (.asmdot).
