Problem
When using the Pack and Go or Find References tools in SOLIDWORKS, users may encounter the following error message:
The SOLIDWORKS Document Manager library is invalid. Please see your administrator.
This error prevents Pack and Go or Find References from completing successfully. This issue is commonly related to the SOLIDWORKS Document Manager library file, SwDocumentMgr.dll, which may be missing, corrupted, or an incorrect version.
Solution 1: Repair SOLIDWORKS
In most cases, performing a SOLIDWORKS repair will restore the required Document Manager files. Please click on the link below and follow the instructions to run a repair of SOLIDWORKS.

Solution 2: Manually Register the Document Manager DLL
If a repair does not resolve the issue, the SwDocumentMgr.dll file may need to be manually registered.
- Close SOLIDWORKS
- In Windows Explorer, navigate to: C:\Program Files\Common Files\SolidWorks Shared
- Confirm that SwDocumentMgr.dll exists in this location
- In the Windows Start Menu, type "cmd" without quotations into the Windows search field, and right-click on the Command Prompt application to select "Run as administrator".
- Enter the following command and press Enter:
regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\SolidWorks Shared\SwDocumentMgr.dll"
