Problem
The SolidNetWork License Manager log can be useful for troubleshooting network licensing issues and getting some basic information on license usage in your network. It keeps track of every time a license is used, if an error prevents a computer from using a license, and other helpful information.
There are a few different ways to access the SolidNetWork License Manager logs. You can use the license manager itself or locate the text file that it writes to.
Solution 1: Accessing Logs from the License Manager
-
Open the "SolidNetWork License Manager Server" application from the Windows Start menu.
- Go to the "Server Administration" tab.
-
Select "View Logs". The log file will now open in Notepad.
Solution 2: Obtaining the Log File Directly
To access the log file where SolidWorks it to directly you must have access to the server machine that is hosting the SolidNetWork License Manager. The file is SNL_Manager_install_dir\lmgrd.log
- Go to the server machine where the SolidNetWork License Manager is hosted.
- Open File Explorer and navigate to the log file, by default, the directory is "C:\Program Files (x86)\SOLIDWORKS Corp\SolidNetWork License Manager". However, if you have a custom directory for the license manager, please locate it there.
- Locate "SNL_Manager_install_dir\lmgrd.log" in the SolidNetWork License Manager folder
- Open the file in any text file editor.
Once the file has been opened, you can review past connections to the license server and troubleshoot any connection issues.
