SOLIDWORKS 2022 SP5 Hotfix: BOM Option 'Display configurations with the same name as one item' Does Not Work

In SOLIDWORKS 2022, there is a bug that causes the Bill of Materials option 'Display configurations with the same name as one item' to not work as expected. This is documented in the following Software Performance Report:

This bug affects SOLIDWORKS 2022 SP3, SP4, and SP5. The issue was fixed in SOLIDWORKS 2023 SP2. We recommend upgrading to SOLIDWORKS SP2 or newer if possible.

**HOTFIX UPDATE**

A hotfix for SOLIDWORKS 2022 SP5 was released and can be found attached to this article. Please download, extract, and run the 'HotFix_1243187_2022sp05.exe' to install this hotfix. If you are currently using either 2022 SP3 or SP4, you will need to first update to SP5 before proceeding.

Applying the Hotfix

To apply the hotfix:

1. Close all SOLIDWORKS processes and verify that Windows® Task Manager is not running these processes.
2. Download the hotfix file attached to this article. Save it to a local disk.
3. Double-click the hotfix file.
4. In the WinZip Self-Extractor dialog box, click Unzip and then click OK.
5. Confirm the User Account Control, if prompted.
6. In the SOLIDWORKS HotFix Installation tool, click Yes to continue.
7. Click OK to finish.
8. Start SOLIDWORKS.
9. Go to Help > About SOLIDWORKS. Verify that the hotfix is listed.

Removing the Hotfix

Before you install a newer SOLIDWORKS Desktop release, you must remove the hotfix.

To remove the hotfix:

1. Open Windows Control Panel.
2. Select Programs > Programs and Features.
3. From the list of Programs, right-click SOLIDWORKS HotFix-1243187.
   Select Uninstall/Change and follow the steps to remove SOLIDWORKS HotFix-1243187
