How to resolve CATIA "Setup:" Error

Problem

After unzipping and combining the CATIA installation file sets and finally running the setup.exe file, user may receive the installation error: "setup:".

 Setup Error

This "setup:" error with the big red X occurs due to a conflict between the CATIA installation and the 2017 Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables, x86 and x64 versions. 

Solution

In order to resolve the issue, uninstall the 2017 Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables:

  1. Select the Windows Start Button

  2. Search for and Select Control Panel

    Search for Control Panel
  3. Go to Programs > Programs and Features

  4. Within the list, right-click on Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 Redistributable (x64) and select Uninstall

    Select C++ 2017 and select uninstall

  5. In the Microsoft Visual C++ dialog box, click "Uninstall"

    Select Uninstall
  6. Once it uninstalls, select "Close"
  7. Repeat steps 4 to 6 for Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 Redistributables (x86)
  8. Once the Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 Redistributables are uninstalled, select the setup.exe file to begin the installation process.
