The CATIA V5 software has Service Packs in addition to V5 Golden. These can contain modifications or bug fixes that the user can install on top of the Golden version.
This article will cover the steps to install a service pack upgrade for CATIA V5.

- Log in to the 3DS Download site.
- Click on “Access.”
NOTE: If you do not have a 3D Experience ID, please create one by following the steps in our guide, How to Access SOLIDWORKS Subscription Service Benefits and create a 3DEXPERIENCE ID -
Make sure that “V5” is selected at the top of the page.
NOTE: Depending on your license, you may need to download a specific configuration of CATIA (i.e. CATIA P2 vs. CATIA PLM Express). The visibility of the available software will be specific to your company’s current licenses.
- Be sure to filter by Release and Level at the top of the page.
- The Service Pack will be denoted by the title PLMSolutions - V5-6R20XX SPX - WIN64. Download the software package by selecting the Download icon at the bottom.
Installing the Service Pack
- Open Windows File Explorer
- Navigate to the Service Pack in your specified download location > Right Click > Unzip/Extract the contents.
- There may be multiple folders, open folder “1”
- Open the WIN64 folder
- In the File Explorer search bar, search for StartSPK.exe, and locate the StartSPK.exe.
- Right-click StartSPK.exe and select Run as Administrator.
- Continue the installation by selecting Next
- Select Next to confirm the folder the Service Pack will be installed to.
- Leave “Commit the service pack automatically” UNCHECKED > Click Next
- Select “INSTALL” to complete installation
- The installation process may take several minutes to complete. Once done, select Finish.
