Problem
There may be cases where, after installing CATIA successfully, you are met with an error message stating that "No License Available for Requested Configuration(s)". This can be due to a multitude of reasons.
In this article, we will be checking possible issues and scenarios related to this error message, and what to do about them.
Solution 1: Confirm the License Configuration
CATIA is trying to launch with a configuration that doesn’t match any available license, or there is none selected. It tends to be the latter, but double-check to confirm that your license is correctly chosen in the License Manager dialog box.
Solution 2: Check the Installation Version for Version Mismatch
The license may not be compatible with the version of CATIA V5 installed. Check to make sure that your version of CATIA matches the license that you purchased.
Example: CATIA PLM Express is not the same as CATIA P2.
To check this:
- Start Menu > All Programs and check to see if the CATIA folder has the correct version name.
- In cases where you may have a generic CATIA folder, open the folder > Tools > Software Management V5.
- Check the Installed Software Tab:
- Look for license codes in the list:
- CAC = PLM Express (Edition 3)
- DP2, HD2, MD2 = CATIA P2
If this seems to be the issue, please head to the Software Downloads site to download the correct version of the program.
Solution 3: Check Common License Issues
There are several causes related to the license.
License Usage
All available seats for the license configuration may currently be in use by other users.
License Expiration
If the license has expired or been revoked, it may have been removed from the license server or your local machine.
License Enrollment
Check whether your license is properly enrolled in the Dassault Systèmes License Manager (DSLS).
- Open the License Administration Tool.
-
Connect to your server and navigate to the Usage Per Feature tab.
-
If there is no seat visible, check to see if you are connected to the Server in the Server Definitions tab
-
Check to see if you have enrolled the license via the License Menu > Enroll.
License File Corruption
In some cases, the issue might be due to license file corruption, where the local license file or its settings are damaged and prevent proper validation. If that’s the case, please contact Support so we can request a new license for you.
Solution 4: Check the Dassault Systèmes License Server Status
If using a network license, the server might be offline, misconfigured, or blocked by firewall settings. There are cases where you may need to make sure that the DSLS License Service is running. Use the following steps to check:
-
Navigate to Windows Start Menu > Services > DS License Server. Check to see if the Status says that it is Running.
-
If it is not running, right-click on the service and select Start.
-
You should then see that the service is running.
Solution 5: Check Settings File
CATIA’s internal settings (CATSettings) may be referencing an outdated or invalid license configuration. Clear it with the following steps:
- navigate to: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\DassaultSystemes\CATSettings
You may need to turn on visibility for Hidden items. Do so by going to the View dropdown menu > Show > Hidden items
- Rename the CATSettings folder (e.g., to CATSettings-old) to preserve it.
- Restart CATIA, which will regenerate a fresh CATSettings folder.
