Creating Keyboard Shortcuts in CATIA V5

Problem

This article will go over how to add new keyboard shortcuts for common commands in CATIA.

Solution

  1. Open CATIA

  2. Go to Tools > Customize (Or right-click on any toolbar > Customize)

    Go to Customize from Tools dropdown
  3. In the Customize Dialogue box, select the Commands Tab
  4. Select the toolbar from the Categories to filter the Commands

  5. Now select the Command to add as a shortcut and select "Show Properties". In this example, we are creating a shortcut for the View>Hide/Show tool.

    Select Commands tab, select the toolbar, select the command to change, and select Show Properties

  6. Once the Properties section is shown, select "Other…"

  7. From the Keys pop-up, scroll down the list and choose a keystroke for the keyboard shortcut. In this example, we are selecting the space key.

  8. Close the Dialogue boxes, and the shortcut can now be used
