DS License Server Computer ID

When using Dassault Systems License Server (DSLS) you will need to generate a computer ID and send it to your Reseller for a license file to be generated for your license. Follow the steps below to generate the Computer ID (also known as Target ID). These steps are for a Windows machine, but the programs to get the Computer ID from other Operating Systems are included in the attached zipped folder as well. Generally, the DSLS Server is hosted on a Windows Server Hyper-V Virtual Machine that comprises a three-machine failover cluster or a single Physical Windows Machine.

Steps

  1. Download and extract the attached zipped folder called "DSLicTarget125".
  2. Open the folder path <Folder location>\DSLicTarget125\Windows 64-bit to locate the exe called "DSLicTarget.exe".

  1. In a Windows Search Bar, type "cmd" to bring up "Command Prompt" and launch it.

  1. In Windows File Explorer, drag the "DSLicTarget.exe" into the Command Prompt Window so the file path is entered.

  1. Hit "Space" and add the following command: DSLicTarget.exe –t. This will bring the full command entered to: "<Folder Location>\DSLicTarget125\Windows 64-bit\DSLicTarget.exe" DSLicTarget.exe –t

  1. Hit "Enter" on your Keyboard to start the command.
  2. With the command done, there will be a Computer ID line where the Computer ID is reported.

  1. Record this Computer ID and send it to your Reseller so they can request a license file.

Virtual Machine Requirements

  • A DS License Server running in a virtualized environment must be a failover cluster: three virtual machines (VMs) able to communicate together are then required. We strongly recommend that the three VMs be hosted by three different physical machines.
  • The only supported operating system for generating the virtual machine is Windows Server, on which the Hyper-V role has to be added and a TPM 2.0 activated.
  • The only supported operating system for running the VM is also Windows Server, on which there must be a Virtual Trusted Platform Module; the VM must be Generation 2.
  • Details about both options are available in the following guide:
