How to resolve SOLIDWORKS warning "The SOLIDWORKS Materials Web Portal cannot be accessed"?

mceclip1.png

This behavior is due to a specific internet security setting issue that SolidWorks issued SPR 1221067 for with a fix coming in SolidWorks 2022 SP01. It is not a MATEREALITY server-side/website issue.

To replicate the issue:

  1. Run SOLIDWORKS versions older than 2022 SP01
  2. Load the Simulation Professional or Simulation Premium Addon
  3. Open a part, right-click Material  in the FeatureManager design tree, and select Edit Material
  4. In the Material dialog box, select Click here to access more materials using the SOLIDWORKS Materials Web Portal on the lower left side.

Solution: Change Internet Security Settings

Affected users have reported that the issue no longer occurs after performing the following steps. Contact your IT department before making any security-related changes:

  1. Close SOLIDWORKS
  2. Type 'Internet Options' or 'inetcpl.cpl' in the Windows Start menu (or open Internet Explorer (IE) and go to 'Tools' > 'Internet Options')
  3. Click on the 'Security' tab, then click on 'Trusted Sites'

  1. With the 'Trusted Sites' zone still selected, click on the 'Sites' button
  2. Temporarily uncheck the 'Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone' option if it is active

  4. With the 'Trusted Sites' zone still selected, click on the 'Custom level' button

  1. Scroll to the Miscellaneous section (approximately halfway down in the list)
  2. Set 'Access data sources across domains' to 'Prompt' instead of 'Disable'
