How can I prepare for class? | Check out our Getting Started article for details on registration, requirements, and accessing class. |
What if I don’t have access to SOLIDWORKS? | We provide access to the latest version of SOLIDWORKS and any other software required for your class through a Virtual Desktop. If you’d like to use your own license, either current year or previous year, you are welcome to do so. If you are using your own license, you will need to download the templates and files. |

What if I cannot make it to a class that I’ve registered for? | If you need to cancel or reschedule in full, we request that you give us notice of four (4) business days before the start of your class so that we may plan appropriately and accommodate other students. Failure to notify us of your intent to cancel 4 business days in advance will result in the forfeiture of the training seat. |
Can coworkers sit in on the class with me if they didn't register? | No, all students must register and have a paid seat in the class. Sharing your classroom link and/or setting up a group-style viewing session of the class may result in your removal. If you need multiple students in the class, please ensure they register or contact us at training@hawkridgesys.com. |
What is a Virtual Classroom? | A virtual classroom is an online learning environment that allows for live interaction between the instructor and students. Our virtual classrooms include a video conferencing tool to allow students and instructors to screenshare, speak, and answer questions, much like an in-person class. |
What is a Virtual Desktop? | A Virtual Desktop is a browser-based tool that allows you to access the most current version of SOLIDWORKS and all other software required for our training courses. Training files are also included in the Virtual Desktop. |
Can I use the Virtual Desktop outside of class hours to practice? | No, the Virtual Desktop is only available during class hours and up to one hour after class ends. |
What do I do if I have a question during class? |
You may use the “Raise Hand” feature or message your instructor using the chat feature or unmute yourself to speak in class. |
Will I be able to share my screen with the instructor? | Yes, but it is not required. Check in with your instructor if you’d like to share your screen. |
Are recordings of classes available? |
No, we do not record our classes to respect the privacy of our students. If you need to miss a day of class, please reach out to us at training@hawkridgesys.com to schedule a make-up class. |
Can I use the browser version of Zoom instead of the app? | Yes, but some features are limited. We highly recommend using the app version due to these limitations & performance. Example: the instructor will not be able to remotely control your screen while screensharing through the browser version. |
EBOOKS
Do you provide training manuals for classes? |
Yes, the class eBook is included in the purchase of the course. |
When will I receive my training eBook? |
eBooks are available to access approximately 1 week before the start of the course. |
How do I access my eBook? | Check out this article on How to Access Your eBook. |
I don't see my eBook listed in the web viewer. | Contact us at training@hawkridgesys.com to check your eBook registration. |
Can I download the eBook to view offline? | Yes, but you will need to download a viewer and activate a license to do so. Check out this article on How to Download an eBook. |
Can I print my eBook? | No. This functionality is intentionally blocked to limit unauthorized distribution of the SOLIDWORKS Training manuals. You may access through the web viewer with an internet connection or the Safeguard Viewer for offline viewing. See next question for hard copy requests. |
Can I get a hard copy of the training manual? | Hard copies are available to purchase at an additional cost. Please email training@hawkridgesys.com or contact your account manager for a quote. *Please note, shipping times average 3-7 business days from order submission. |
How long do I have access to my eBook? | You will have access to your eBook for at least 4 years from the publishing date. After 4 years, the publisher will work to support older versions as long as possible. |
TROUBLESHOOTING
Zoom won't load/shows black screen | Restart your computer and retry. You may need to uninstall and reinstall Zoom, or try using the browser version. |
The Virtual Desktop gave me an error message when attempting to connect | Let your instructor know right away and we will work to troubleshoot the issue. Please continue to observe in class or use your own license in the interim. |
eBook Web Viewer "Forgot Password" process does not work |
DSGraphics does have a few rules for making the password, listed below. Make sure the password you enter follows these guidelines. The password must be at least 8 characters long and contain at least two of the following: one special character (ex. !, @, $) one digit (‘0’ - ‘9’) one lowercase letter (‘a’ - ‘z’) one uppercase letter (‘A’ - ‘Z’) do not use the # symbol |
I cannot access the training files on Dropbox |
If you have issues accessing Dropbox due to permissions issues, you can access them directly through Solidworks here: Training Files | SOLIDWORKS Simply filter by manual title for the name of your course and select the year that matches your license. |
