Problem
This article describes how to resolve the error "Could Not Get Information From the Server" when trying to activate the SolidNetwork License Manager (SNL). This can occur after upgrading SOLIDWORKS or migrating the License Server. This error can be found in the lmgrd.log log file as:
"SW_D exited with status 32 (Exited because another server was running)"
The following steps go over how to check for the error:
-
Open the SolidNetwork License Manager Client (SNL Client) on the License Server Machine, click on the Server Administration tab, and click View Log. Note: If there is no Server Administration tab, then the SNL Client is open on a client machine and not the License Server Machine.
- Scroll towards the bottom of the log until the lmgrd error message is shown:
"SW_D exited with status 32 (Exited because another server was running)"
Solution
- Open the Windows Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+Delete keys), and select the 'Details' tab
- Scroll down the application list until the lmgrd.exe (license manager) process is shown
- Select all instances of this process and click End Task
- After the lmgrd.exe processes have been stopped, launch the SNL Client and proceed to activate again.
