Problem
Sometimes when installing, upgrading, or modifying the SolidNetWork License Manager (SNL) on the License Server, the server may encounter an issue where it does not see and cannot issue the newly activated licenses. There may also be a constant reactivation loop with the error message “Could not get information from the server” when this happens.
This article will address one common cause relating to FLEXnet & SOLIDWORKS Services.
Solution
The SNL will fail to see/issue licenses if either the FlexNet Licensing Service or SolidNetWork Licensing Manager Service is disabled. To check this, go to Services, check the status and startup type. If either service is disabled or stopped, choose to set it to automatic and start/restart the service.
-
Navigate to the Windows Start Menu, type "Run", and open the Run application
-
Type services.msc in the Run dialog box and select OK
-
Locate FlexNet Licensing Service & FlexNet Licensing Service 64 (there may not be both)
-
Right-click the service(s) and select Properties
- Use the drop-down to change from Disabled to Automatic
- Click Apply
-
Click Start to start the service
- Repeat steps 4-7 for each FLEXNet service & the SolidNetWork License Manager service
- Check if the licences are visible & useable in the SolidNetwork License Manager
