Problem

This article describes how to add the ability to edit the Machine Simulation Application Path if a user wants to use a different application to run their machine simulation and the option has gone missing. The path can be set under CAMWorks Options > File Locations under Machine Simulation, but in certain installations, this has gone missing.

Machine Simulation Option Missing

Solution

To add the ability to set the Machine Simulation application path, we will need to modify the CAMWorks Registry.

When going into the Registry Editor, do not modify or delete anything except what is listed below. If you do not feel comfortable performing the steps listed below, please contact Technical Support.

Follow the steps below:

  1. Close all applications, including CAMWORKS and SOLIDWORKS
  2. Open Windows Search, search for REGEDIT, and then hit Enter to open the Registry Editor

Open the Registry Editor

  1. Browse to the folder named: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\TekSoft\CAMWorks\CAMWorks 20XXx64
  2. Right-click the Debug folder and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Right-click the Debug folder and add a new DWORD (32-bit) value
  3. Name the new entry Mach_Simulation and right-click on it to select "Modify"

    Modify the registry key
  4. In the Edit DWORD window, set the Value data to 1 with the Hexadecimal type

Set the value to 1 with the Hexadecimal type
  5. Launch CAMWorks and confirm that you now have the ability to edit the machine simulation application path from CAMWorks Options > File Locations
