CAMWorks Solids Template error "Templates cannot be created in the present location"

A bug has been found and reported in the 2024 release of CAMWorks Solids. Users May experience the below error when starting a new part of assembly file. The condition only exists with licenses limited to Parts or Parts and Assemblies:

The root cause is a missing drawing template even though the license will not allow for the making of drawing files. The workaround is to replace the missing drawing template file that the software is looking for.

1. Navigate to the CAMWorks Solids options and take note of the template directory:

The default location is: C:\ProgramData\SOLIDWORKS\SOLIDWORKS 2024\templates

Note: You may be using a customized location for templates. If that is the case then verify that the software is pointing to the desired directory.

2. Close the Options menu and close CAMWorks Solids.

3. Download the ZIP file linked in this article.

4. Extract the file set in the location you downloaded it to.

5. Copy the 'Drawing.DRWDOT' file from the extracted folder to the location of your other template files.

Note: The other templates are included but do not need to be copied over unless you are in need of blank template files for part and assembly files.

6. Launch CAMWorks Solids and start a new part or assembly. The expected menu should appear to chose the desired template and no error should present itself.
