Once your order has been received by DS/SOLIDWORKS you will receive an email from “DoNotReply.ag.license-keys@3ds.com” and will look like this:

By selecting the button “Launch your 3DExperience platform”, you will be greeted with a login screen to verify your 3DExperience ID. If you do not have a 3DExperience ID yet, please create one with the steps below:

Creating a 3DExperience ID

  1. If you have not already done so, create your 3DEXPERIENCE ID. You may access it by selecting the “Create your 3DEXPERIENCE ID” option below the Log In button.

  2. Fill in the form and all mandatory fields. Select “Register” when finished.

You will receive an automatic email with the confirmation of your 3DEXPERIENCE registration; your ID will be the same as the email address used to register. For additional information on creating a 3DExperience ID, please see: 3DEXPERIENCE ID Creation process (3ds.com)

Upon successfully logging in, you will then be prompted with a welcome message. This is to confirm you are the intended Platform Administrator and notify you will be consuming a license

Note: If you purchased a single license, then the end CAD user must also be the administrator.
Once a license is consumed it is locked to that user for 30 days

Review the terms and select “Make Me Administrator”, a popup window of the software agreement will appear.

IMPORTANT: If you are not the intended administrator (or end CAD user for a single license purchase, click on Log Out and forward the email to the intended user).

The software agreement will look like this:

The page must be scrolled to the bottom and then in the lower right corner of the page will be a “Accept” button. This will only become available to select once you have read through and scrolled to the bottom of the page. You may also download the agreement for offline review.

Once the software agreement (CLOSA) is accepted, your 3DEXPERIENCE tenant will be activated. A new webpage will be loaded, bookmark this webpage, it is your tenant access.

The user interface of 3DEXPERIENCE is comprised of two elements, apps and dashboards. The big blue compass on the left is to access your apps and the dashboards icon on the right (three horizontal lines) is to access your dashboards. Dashboards are used to easily access your apps later and for administrative management.

The compass is used to display all the apps you currently have assigned to your user. This guide will cover installing 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS and Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS.

STEP 02: Assigning Roles

Before any applications can be installed, they must first be assigned to the user from the Members Management Control Center.

To enter the Members Management dashboard, select the Dashboards icon and then select Members Management from the left panel.

From the Members Control Center roles can be applied to any current users by selecting the (i) information icon next to the username.

Additional users can be invited to the 3DEXPERIENCE tenant by selecting “Invite & Grant Roles”.

STEP 03: Installing your Applications

Applications are installed by selecting the compass (big blue button), and then selecting the role from the My Roles list.

3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS: Is SOLIDWORKS. It is installed locally, it is cloud licensed and has 3DEXPERIENCE online data management built right in.

Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS: An add-in for SOLIDWORKS Desktop that connects to 3DEXPERIENCE online data management.

The first time any locally installed application is selected it will first download the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher. Once the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher is downloaded it will need to be launched and installed.
