Problem
This article describes the Icons used in the Assembly FeatureManager Design Tree. The FeatureManager Design Tree on the left side of the SOLIDWORKS window provides an outline view of the active part, assembly, or drawing. For more information on Part & Drawing file Icons, review these articles:

Solution
Below is a list that covers different aspects of the Assembly FeatureManager Design Tree.
- A plus
icon to the left of an item’s icon indicates that it contains associated items, such as sketches. Click the plus
icon to expand the item and display its contents. To collapse all expanded items at once, press Shift+C or right-click the document name at the top of the tree and select Collapse Items. - If the Component Position is overdefined, it will show (+)
- If the Component Position is underdefined, it will show (-)
- If the Component Position cannot be solved, it will show (?)
- If the Component Position is fixed, it will show (f)
- If the Mate is overdefined, it will show (+)
- If the Mate is not solved, it will show (?)
- When a Folder with components contains at least one overdefined component, it will show (+)
- When a Folder with components contains at least one underdefined component, it will show (-)
- When a Folder with components that are only fixed, it will show (F)
- Features that are preceded by the rebuild symbol
if a change has been made that requires the rebuild of the model. - When there is an error in the model, there is a red down arrow icon
- When there is an error with the feature, there is a red X icon
- When there is a warning underneath the node, there is a yellow down arrow icon
- When there is a warning with a feature, there is a yellow exclamation point icon
- If a feature has an external reference, its name is followed by a right arrow icon –>
- If an external reference is currently out of context, the feature name and the part name are followed by a right arrow icon with a question mark ->?
- If the external reference is locked, it will show a right arrow icon with an asterisk ->*
- If the external reference is broken, it will show a right arrow icon with an X ->X
- A resolved component is fully loaded, and editable will show a yellow icon
- A lightweight component will show a blue feather on the part icon
- An out-of-date lightweight component shows a red feather on the part icon
- A suppressed component will show a grey icon
- A hidden but active component will show a white icon
- A hidden but active lightweight component will show a white blue feather icon
- A hidden but active lightweight component that is out-of-date will show a white red feather icon
- A smart component will show a lightning bolt icon
- A hidden smart component will show a white lightning bolt icon
- An assembly in Large Design Review mode will show an Eye icon on all components
- A hidden component in Large Design Review mode will show a white eye icon
- An imported component will show a green arrow part icon
- An imported assembly will show a green arrow assembly icon
- When opening an assembly, the eye icon on a component indicates it is being resolved
- Envelope components show an envelope part icon
- Envelope assemblies show an envelope assembly icon
- Hidden Envelope components show a white envelope part icon
- Suppressed Envelope components show a grey envelope part icon
- Grouped components show a double part icon
- Grouped assemblies show a double assembly icon
- A future version file shows a notepad icon
