Problem
A partially or fully blank context menu (right-click menu) is an issue that some users encounter when their environment consists of multiple monitors.
This issue was primarily an issue with older versions of SOLIDWORKS 2015-2022, with an old bug report, SPR 654616. We have not heard of customers encountering this issue in newer versions of SOLIDWORKS. This issue can occur if the monitor that SolidWorks is on is lower than the primary monitor.
For further clarification of this bug, please see the screenshot below taken from the Windows Display Settings. In the example below, SOLIDWORKS is on Monitor 2, which is lower than Monitor 3, which is the main display.
Solution 1: Change the Monitor Location
Close SOLIDWORKS
In Windows Search, type "Display" to bring up Display Settings
Change the location of the monitors within the Monitor Control Window so that the SOLIDWORKS monitor is above the primary monitor. In the example below, SOLIDWORKS is on Monitor 2, which is lower than Monitor 3, which is the main display.
Launch SOLIDWORKS to retest the issue
Solution 2: Change the Primary Monitor
- Close SOLIDWORKS
- In Windows Search, type "Display" to bring up Display Settings.
-
In Display Settings, click on the Monitor used for SOLIDWORKS in the Monitor Control Window at the top and click the option "Make this my main display"
- Launch SOLIDWORKS to retest the issue
