How to Find the Location of the Original Installation Source

Running a repair or upgrading service packs without the files in their original installation location can cause errors. This article goes through the steps that you can use to find where the original installation source location is.

Through the Control Panel:

  1. Navigate to the Control Panel
  2. Use Programs and Features to access a list of applications installed on your machine

Note: If your View by: is set to "Category" (set on the top right corner of the Control Panel), you can access "Program and Features" after clicking on "Programs"
  3. Right-click anywhere on the column header and select "More"

  4. Under the Details box, check on "Source" from the list and click "OK"
  5. The "Source" column will be added. To see where SOLIDWORKS installed from, scroll to where your SOLIDWORKS applications are and look for the path listed in the Source column
