How to Show Color in a SOLIDWORKS Drawing without Shaded Display Styles

Problem

This article describes how to show Assembly or Part Colors in SOLIDWORKS Drawings when using the Hidden Lines Visible (HLV), Hidden Lines Removed (HLR), and Wireframe Display Styles. Below is an example with no Colors.

No Color

Solution

  1. Open the desired Drawing to change
  2. Go to Tools > Options > Document Properties > Detailing

    Open Detailing Settings in Document Properties
  3. Check the box for "Use model color for HLR/HLV in drawings" and click "OK"

    Check the Color Setting for HLR and HLV and then click OK
  4. The Colors are now shown for HLR, HLV, and Wireframe display styles
