Why does my toolpath look odd but simulates correctly? – Hawk Ridge Systems

This may be due to the way CAM packages display their toolpath. CAMWorks, as with all CAM packages drive the toolpath preview (shown in the default blue color when highlighting an operation) at the tool tip rather than the tool contact point. This can be seen in the attached image (Tool tip vs Tool Contact Point.png). The blue toolpath is displayed at the tool tip whereas the tool contact point is the actual location of cutting. This is a limitation of all CAM packages since there could be more than one contact point as seen in the image 2 Tool Contact Points.png and it would be difficult and sometimes confusing to show.
