You may receive this error message This version of SolidWorks has not been commissioned properly. Please contact your local support. This error could occur if the previous license information is still available on the system. Renaming the FLEXNet folder or manually deleting license from the machine from the Command Prompt would resolve this issue.
Before starting the following troubleshooting steps, please make sure the serial number was entered properly in the Installation Manager. You can see what the serial number is entered through the procedure described in this article: How to Modify an Evaluation Installation of SOLIDWORKS to Utilize a Permanent Serial Number – Hawk Ridge Systems Support
Renaming the FLEXNet Folder
- Navigate to C:\ProgramData. The "ProgramData" directory is hidden by default, so if it is not shown in the root C: drive, you can access it by typing C:\ProgramData directly into the Windows File Explorer address bar. You can also go to the View tab in the File Explorer and check on Hidden Items to see the ProgramData folder.
- There would be a FLEXNet folder inside of the directory. Rename the folder to FLEXNet_old. If you are unable to rename the folder, reboot your machine.
- Attempt to launch SOLIDWORKS and activate it again.
Deletion of the Activation-Based License from the Machine
This is a manual way to delete existing license records from the machine.
- Open Command Prompt as an Administrator.
- Type in the address of where swactwiz.exe exists with two other parameters. It will look like the following line in the command prompt:
"[SOLIDWORKS Installation Folder]\setup\i386\swactwiz.exe" /dellic /primprod:solidworks
**SOLIDWORKS Installation folder typically has the following path: C:\Program Files\SOLIDWORKS Corp 2023 - Press Enter to let the command run and try reactivating again.
For manually deleting other types of licenses, please see the solution article QA00000105110.
Important: The commands delete the activation from the client computer but do not delete the record of your activation on the server (the SOLIDWORKS activation server). If you plan to reactivate the license on the same computer, it is okay to use the commands. However, if you want to transfer the activation to a different computer, then you must use the SOLIDWORKS Activation Wizard to transfer the license.
