Adding Custom Weldment Cut List Properties

Problem

This article goes over how to add Custom Weldment Cut List Properties to Weldment Profiles. Weldment cut lists contain a lot of useful information such as the length, angle, and material by default. Additional properties can be manually added as well.  However, if these additional properties are used every time a particular weldment profile is used, they can be brought in automatically by editing the custom properties of the weldment profile.

Solution

  1. Open up the weldment profile in SOLIDWORKS and edit the Custom Properties.
  2. In Custom Properties, add the custom property name as well as a Value/Text Expression if necessary for each desired property to add.
  3. Save the weldment profile.

Add Custom Properties to the Weldment Profile file
  4. In a Part file, create a weldment from the weldment profile that was just saved. Then go to the properties to view the cut list properties.

Create weldment and right click the cut list item to go to properties
  5. The custom weldment cut list property that was added will appear.

Note: These custom cut list properties will only be brought in the first time the weldment is created, so any additional properties added after the weldment is created will not appear.
