Curve through XYZ points Error: The 3D spline curve is self intersecting

This article discusses how to resolve the following error that occurs when creating a curve through XYZ Points: "The 3D spline curve is self intersecting."

Scenario 1

When creating a curve through XYZ points the error message "The 3D spline curve is self-intersecting" can occur if the curve is outside the SolidWorks modelling limits. The XYZ points can not exceed a 1 kilometer sphere centered around the origin.

Scenario 2

If there are duplicate points listed that are causing the curve to intersect, this error will occur. As a workaround, the user can search through the listed XYZ points and delete duplicate rows. To delete a row, edit the .txt/.srv file being used or highlight the row in the Curve File dialogue box and hit 'delete' on your keyboard.

If there are too many points to search through, the user can separate their list and create multiple curves through XYZ points.
