Curve through XYZ points Error: The 3D spline curve is self intersecting

Problem

This article discusses how to resolve the following error that occurs when creating a curve through XYZ Points: "The 3D spline curve is self-intersecting."

Solution 1: Outside Modeling Limit

The error can occur if the curve is outside the SolidWorks modelling limits. All XYZ points can not exceed a 500 meter spehere radius centered around the origin. Edit the feature to make sure all points are within this limit and hit the green checkmark.

Solution 2: Duplicate Points

If there are duplicate points listed that are causing the curve to intersect, this error will occur. As a workaround, the user can search through the listed XYZ points and delete duplicate rows. To delete a row, edit the .txt/.srv file being used or highlight the row in the Curve File dialogue box and hit 'delete' on the keyboard.

Edit to remove Duplicate Points

If there are too many points to search through, the user can separate their list and create multiple curves through XYZ points.
