Problem
This article describes the process of creating a broken-out section view of a pictorial (Isometric, trimetric, dimetric) view. Broken-out section views are used to remove a portion of the model in a drawing view to expose the inside. When creating a broken-out section view of a pictorial (isometric, trimetric, dimetric) view, the depth that is used is normal to the sheet. An edge in the pictorial view can not be used unless it is parallel to the viewing plane in the pictorial projection.
Solution
- Create an isometric, trimetric, or dimetric view. Note: The example in this article is an Isometric View.
- Click Insert > Drawing View > Broken-out Section
- Select an Edge that is parallel to the viewing plane or set a depth value if there is no suitable edge to use as a reference
- Click the green checkmark to finish the feature
