Problem
This article goes over the Check Entity tool, which is intended to check the model geometry for undesirable geometry.
Solution
The Check Entity tool can be accessed from Tools > Evaluate > Check or from the Evaluate tab in the Command Manager.
Check Entity can check all bodies, selected bodies, or only features. Check Entity can determine:
- Invalid Face(s)
- Invalid Edge(s)
- Short Edge(s)
- Open Surface(s)
- The Minimum Radius of Curvature
- The Maximum Edge Gap
- The Maximum Vertex Gap
The results will display under the 'Result List' whereby each requested value can be selected, where it will highlight the component in the graphics area with an arrow pointing to the point of interest. Then it is recommended to review the results and determine how to modify the geometry to resolve the undesirable geometry.
SOLIDWORKS possesses several additional tools capable of running checks to determine if the geometry created is stable, functional, or will not create any additional complications, which include:
- Verification on Rebuild: Using Verification on Rebuild for Geometry Checks – Hawk Ridge Systems
- Force Rebuild: Check for Feature Errors in SOLIDWORKS with Force Rebuild – Hawk Ridge Systems
- Geometry Analysis: Using Geometry Analysis to check for Issues before Exporting to other Tools – Hawk Ridge Systems
