Problem

Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables are some of the critical prerequisites for SOLIDWORKS. If these prerequisites for SOLIDWORKS are damaged, it can lead to a variety of unwanted behaviors. Here are a few possible symptoms of damaged C++ prerequisites:

1. Unexpected crashes
2. VCRuntime or KERNELBASE errors
3. Installation failures
4. Unintended behavior in SOLIDWORKS

Solution

To repair these prerequisites, uninstall all versions and reinstall them.

Follow the steps below to repair Microsoft Visual C++ prerequisites:

1. Log in to the Computer as Administrator
2. Navigate to Windows Programs and Features and uninstall all programs that begin with Microsoft Visual C++ currently installed on the computer, starting with the newest version.

3. Download the latest service pack set of each year's C++ installers from this link. A SOLIDWORKS repair can also be run to install these components.
4. Extract the .zip file to the computer's desktop and run (double-click) all of the vcredist (x64 and x86) programs that are in each year's folder to install C++
5. If you are asked to repair or uninstall one of the Microsoft Visual C++ programs after running a vcredist executable, verify if you have already installed that version, and if so, close the installer window and continue to the next C++ installer
6. Optional: Repair SOLIDWORKS or retry installation. It is normal for the installation process to try and re-install Microsoft Visual C++ again.
7. Launch SOLIDWORKS to retest the issue
