Problem

Some users find that the Thread Type and Size don’t populate when using the Thread feature. This usually happens because SOLIDWORKS is set to the wrong Thread Profiles folder, often after an upgrade. When using the Thread feature, the following error can appear: "<Thread Profile path> contains an invalid path".

There can also be nothing populated under the Specifications tab Type and Size in the Thread feature.

Solution 1: System Option Change

1. Open SOLIDWORKS

2. Navigate to Tools > Options > System Options > File Locations > Thread Profiles

   

3. Navigate to that location in Windows File Explorer. By default, it is C:\ProgramData\SOLIDWORKS\SOLIDWORKS 20XX\Thread Profiles

4. Check to see that there is a Thread Profiles folder and that it is populated.

   

5. If the folder is missing or empty, check if another SOLIDWORKS version is installed and locate the files in a different folder. For example, the path might point to 2026, but the files could be in the 2025 folder. 
6. If found, update the file path in SOLIDWORKS file location settings located in Tools > Options > System Options > File Locations > Thread Profiles
7. Use the "Delete" button to delete the current file path
8. Use the "Add" button to add the new file path
9. Click "OK" to accept the changes
10. Open the Thread feature to retest the issue

Solution 2: Repair SOLIDWORKS
