Problem
This article goes over how to change Serial Numbers for a SOLIDWORKS Administrative Image. Serial numbers can be changed by editing the Admin Image settings in the Admin Image Editor and redeploying the image to update the installation.
For non-Admin Image installations, modify the installation to change the Serial Number following the steps in this article: How To Modify A SOLIDWORKS Installation – Hawk Ridge Systems
Modifying an installation will not result in uninstalling the program; rather, it will modify the installation to reflect the changed serial number. Modifying an Admin Image using the Admin Image Editor is the recommended way to change the Serial Number for SolidWorks installations that were installed with an Admin Image.
Solution
-
Go to the Admin Image folder and open the Admin Image Editor called "sldAdminOptionEditor.exe".
-
In the Option Editor Window that comes up, change to the "Setup" tab and click the desired Computer that you want to modify the Serial Numbers for. If the desired Computer is not listed, add it by using the "New Machine" button.
- Once you have the desired Computer selected, hit "Change" at the top right to modify its settings.
-
Put in the new desired Serial Numbers and hit "OK" to close the editor.
-
Redeploy the admin image by launching the HTML application called "StartSWInstall" from the client machine.
- Once that is done, launch SolidWorks and activate the license(s) if prompted or go to Help > Licenses > Activate to activate the license(s).
