How To Prevent PDM Transition Of Reference Files

This article describes how to prevent automatic selection of reference files when changing state of a file. When a user proceed to change the state of a file, by default the dialog also checks all the files that are being referenced, in order to move them all together through the transition. On occasions you will only want to change the state of the file you have selected and as such knowing this option will be helpful.  

In the illustration below, only the Part was selected for 'Change state' but by default the dialog also checked the two Drawing files.

1. Open SOLIDWORKS PDM Administration Tool.

2. Right click on the username for which you need to make the change and click on Settings as illustrated in screen shot below.

3. Click on Reference Dialog then check the box, "Do not mark reference files when changing state", then click on OK as shown in screen below.
