How to Add Additional Fonts to SOLIDWORKS

Problem

This article goes over how to install additional Fonts to use with SOLIDWORKS. SOLIDWORKS only recognizes TrueType Fonts (.TTF).  OpenType fonts containing TrueType outlines that use the same .TTF filename extension will work as well.

Solution

To use a new Font with SOLIDWORKS, we will install the Font file into the Windows Fonts folder with the steps below:

  1. Close SOLIDWORKS
  2. Navigate to C:\Windows\Fonts
  3. Copy the .TTF font file into C:\Windows\Fonts to install it, or right-click the file to select "Install"
  4. Launch SOLIDWORKS and use the new font
