This article describe how to reset thumbnail cache when thumbnail pictures are not displaying consistently. This article does not fix issues whereby the preview pane will either be blank or display the SOLIDWORKS icon thumbnails rather than a preview of the file. Instead please see this article.
If the thumbnail pictures are not displaying correctly, resetting the thumbnail cache will fix this (most of the time). Resetting the cache will clear it and force the automatic creation of the thumbnails as needed. Follow the steps below to clear the thumbnail cache.
- Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup.
- Select your Boot Drive and click OK.
- Check the Thumbnails checkbox (make sure nothing else is checked).
- Click OK.
- When prompted, click the Delete Files button.
