Week 1 Day 1: Welcome! (No Live Instruction Today)

Welcome to the Knapheide Manufacturing Onboarding Program at SolidProfessor! 

Over the next few weeks, you'll be attending multiple online SOLIDWORKS classes as part of your onboarding, starting with SOLIDWORKS Essentials. In addition to your online classes, we've set aside assignments for each day to reinforce and promote your learning. These assignments include tutorials inside of SOLIDWORKS, exercises from the course manuals, videos on YouTube, video lessons on SolidProfessor, daily quizzes, along with certification review and prep. You'll also be given time to take specified SOLIDWORKS Certification exams.

In general, assignments are designed to be worked on after you've received classroom instruction in your online class each day. Any work not completed from the previous day can be worked on before your instructor-led class the following day.

Files

For each online class you'll be prompted to download the corresponding resources (class files and templates). Once downloaded, copy the .exe file to your SWTESTING folder on your C: drive. Then you may execute to extract the files. For any work done during your assignments, these files should be saved to your Knapheide personal drive. Set up your folders as shown below. If you have any questions regarding this setup, submit a ticket to your IT Helpdesk.

All assignment files should be saved in your personal drive in the COMPLETED ASSIGNMENT FILES folder using the following naming scheme.

ClassAbbreviation_Exercise#_KnapheideUsername.sldprt

i.e.
ESS_12_rjones.sldprt
SHM_5_rjones.sldprt
DRW_31_rjones.slddrw
If an assignment is not associated with an exercise, an alternate naming scheme will be specified.

Tutorials

To access the tutorials inside of SOLIDWORKS, you'll first need to launch SOLIDWORKS and then navigate to the Tutorials.

Do the following tutorials inside of SOLIDWORKS under Getting Started, in the order listed below:

1. Introduction to SOLIDWORKS
2. Lesson 1: Parts
3. Lesson 2: Assemblies
4. Lesson 3: Drawings
5. AutoCAD to SOLIDWORKS

Save your work in your COMPLETED ASSIGNMENT FILES > ESSENTIALS folder (save as Tutorial_PartName_username)

Throughout your SOLIDWORKS Essentials training and assignments you will be preparing for the Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate Certification. Learn more about the certification here.

SolidProfessor

You have been given a SolidProfessor login (via email). Use this to access all assigned SolidProfessor content. You'll be given a specific courses to attend with defined sections to watch each day. Most of the video courses include exercises for you to do. Download and save your files as needed. Once all lessons have been viewed and exercises have been completed, you'll be asked to take the certification quiz. Note that these are internal to SolidProfessor and in addition to the SOLIDWORKS Certifications.
For today, you'll watch one section from a video course to get familiar with the SolidProfessor space.
