Problem
This article discusses the issue surrounding SOLIDWORKS Task Scheduler not running any tasks and the steps to take to troubleshoot it.
When the tasks in the SOLIDWORKS Task Scheduler are scheduled but do not seem to start at all, this may be the result of the "swboengine.exe" not running. This is the process running SOLIDWORKS Task Scheduler and is known as the “Back Office Engine”.
Solution
You can verify its activity by setting up a task within SOLIDWORKS Task Scheduler to run:
- Open the Windows Task Manager (CTRL + ALT + DEL
- Click the "Details" tab (Windows 11 & 10) or "Processes" tab (Windows 7)
- Check if swboengine.exe is listed.
- If it is not running, we can manually run it and then retest the issue. Disable any Antivirus programs and User Account Control
- Navigate to: C:\Program Files\SOLIDWORKS Corp\SOLIDWORKS\swScheduler
- Right-click on "swboengine.exe" and select “Run as Administrator”. Note: If there are multiple year versions of SOLIDWORKS installed, ensure the correct version of swboengine.exe is running from the correct installation location.
Try running the Task Scheduler tasks again
If the procedure above did not resolve the issue, we recommend trying a SOLIDWORKS Repair, then a clean uninstall of the software, and then reinstall it.
