2021 PDM Professional Database Server Installation Guide

Raymond Scarlett

This guide is written for administrators of SolidWorks PDM Professional 2021. The goal of this guide is to detail the steps necessary for an administrator to successfully install the Database Server component of the PDM Professional server installation. The other components that are required for the PDM Professional server to function correctly are SQL and the Archive server. Please see the installation guides for those components for information about installing them.

The Database Server software connects PDM Professional to our SQL instance. It manages and passes meta data that we store in PDM to our SQL database for the vault. In order to function correctly the Database Server must be connected to a PDM Archive Server.

Hawk Ridge Systems highly recommends taking a moment before installing SOLIDWORKS and checking that you are ready to load your new software. First, ensure that your computer meets minimum system requirements and that your video card passes certification checks. Also, confirm that the hard drive has enough space to have at least 15% free space after the full installation. Back-up data such as any shared Toolbox library, Design Library, Template files, or a data management vault. As always, verify workmates, customers, or vendors are all on the same version of SOLIDWORKS. Older versions of SOLIDWORKS cannot open files from newer versions.

This is not a troubleshooting guide. If you have any technical issues with SOLIDWORKS, please contact Hawk Ridge Systems technical support.
