This article pertains to the Technology Database crashing issue when trying to browse to a file to import or link database files in CAMWorks or SOLIDWORKS 2018.
SYMPTOMS:
The Technology Database in CAMWorks or SOLIDWORKS CAM 2018 crashes when the user is attempting to browse for the .CWDB or .MBD file at Settings > Link Database or Import Database.
CAUSES:
This issue has been found most commonly on DELL systems where the application 'Dell Backup and Recovery' interferes with the SQLite.Interop.dll file, causing the TechDB to crash upon browsing.
SOLUTION:
There are two methods that are known to have resolved this issue.
1. Uninstall the utility 'Dell Backup and Recovery' at Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features and reboot the system before retesting the issue.
2. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell Backup and Recovery\Components\Shell and locate the SQLite.Interop.dll file. Rename it (i.e. “SQLite.Interop-OLD.dll) and re-install CAMWorks.
