Creating Independent Toolbox Components

This article discusses how to create a part independent of the toolbox components from a toolbox component. Independent toolbox components can be useful in situations that require file transfer of an assembly with custom toolbox components. Instead of sending the entire toolbox, the user can send the assembly with independent toolbox components that will be successfully imported regardless of the user’s toolbox settings.

To begin, open or create an assembly. After opening the assembly, insert the desired toolbox component from the “Design Library” portion of the Task Pane as shown in the image below.

After selecting the desired toolbox component and size, insert the component into the assembly. After inserting the component, right-click the component in Feature Manager Tree and select “Make Independent”. This can be seen in the image below.
