- When importing a model that is not native to SolidWorks it is a good idea to get a couple copies of the file in different formats just in case the first attempt doesn’t work.
- Request the model be sent over in its native format and also as a ParaSolid, a STEP and an IGES.
- Request that if applicable all parts and assemblies for each format are packaged separately in a compressed file “.ZIP”.
- It is always a good idea to get some screen captures of the exported/imported geometry in its native program for import comparison. This will help identify any drastic geometry changes during the export and import process.
